BSA WD B40 GR (RAF – Police Escort) Rare Opportunity
Other projects are pressing and it’s time to let this very, very original GR go to a new home where it will be used and enjoyed.
This was the last bike my father worked on and was an important project for him, as he was Ex RAF.
It was acquired and registered in 2010. It was last used in March 2012 as an escort for my father’s funeral and has remained in the garage ever since. It was completed 69 miles in the last 14 years or so.
It has all the correct, fairing, fittings, indicators, switch gear etc, etc and benefits from having a new MK1 Concentric, Electronic ignition, rims, spokes, tyres, inner tubes, genuine exhaust and a host of new genuine parts at the time, to numerous to list. ( My dad kept a list, but I can’t find it).
Some many months ago, I pulled it out of the garage and cleaned it up, changed all the oils, fitted a new Gel battery, etc and got it started and that’s where it has stayed!
It’s not perfect and can be improved. The fairing has suffered some knocks and paint flaking whilst in storage. However, it starts up straight away. Having been in storage for 14 years and only having done 69 miles, clearly some recommissioning will be required. A rare opportunity to acquire something a bit different.
